Overview and Installation
AVImark Sync is a back-end system for moving data back and forth between your AVImark database and the AVImark Sync server. AVImark Sync itself is not a separate product, but it is the data synchronization “backbone” that enables many other products.
For example, with PetWise Websites, your customers can log in to your clinic’s website and see records for their own pets. This information gets from AVImark to the website by means of AVImark Sync. Another product, MSS eMinders, has a web interface which depends on AVImark Sync for data synchronization. In the future more products will also take advantage of this bi-directional data synchronization platform, enabling new mobile and web-based capabilities.
AVImark Sync is the piece of software that runs on your AVImark server at the clinic and communicates over the Internet with the AVImark Sync server.
AVImark Sync must be installed on the AVImark server. You can continue using AVImark while you run the installation program. To install AVImark Sync, click here.

Windows Services and Automatic Startup
AVImark Sync runs automatically in the background when you start the server computer. You do not need to start it manually. Additionally, since it can run on its own at startup, it does not require a user to log in to the server. It works quietly in the background and does not require any user intervention during normal operation. There is no direct user interface and there will be no icon cluttering the notification area (more commonly called the system tray).
AVImark Sync achieves this ability by running as a Windows service, sometimes also referred to as an NT service. Windows services are programs that run automatically in the background and do not require user interaction. For example, many hardware drivers and anti-virus programs use Windows services. As another example, most clinics that use AVImark in client/server mode run AVImark Server as a service. The Windows operating system itself also installs many services to provide core Windows features.
In this context, when we speak of the “AVImark Sync service,” service does not refer to our subscription based products but rather to the AVImark Sync software, which runs as a Windows service program.
